Wheel Torque Specs

Wheel installation requires your wheel hardware torqued to the right specs. Torque specs are always found in your vehicles owner’s manual or can be obtained from your car dealership. Most people think since when they are installing aftermarket wheels that the torque specs would change. This is incorrect, because you are still installing on the factory studs or factory size bolts, which is what the torque specs are dependent on. In order to properly torque your wheels, make sure the threads on the wheel bolts are clean of debris and not stripped. Start with hand tightening your lugs/bolts and when they feel snug as you can get them by hand, use a torque wrench to finish. Lugs/Bolts are always tightened in a criss cross fashion. For example, with a 5 lug vehicle such as a Ford Mustang, tighten top first, then bottom, and repeat with top right and bottom left, and then top left, and then bottom left. Same applies with 4, 6 or 8 lug, always tighten one then the one opposite to it. We recommend re-torquing your wheels 50kms after installing your wheels.

Note: Rule of thumb is usually 7 turns of the hardware on to the stud (or turns of a bolt).
