KX Wheels has established the highest customer satisfaction levels in the custom wheel industry. In order to maintain these levels, the warranties on chrome plated wheels must be understood by the end user. KX Wheels must advise all of our dealers to explain the proper care and maintenance of chrome wheels to the end user. All wheels are covered by the manufacturer's specific warranties and guidelines. KX Wheels offers no warranties of our own. If the manufacturer of the product denies a warranty claim, KX Wheels can not proceed any further. For specific warranty information, please call your KX Wheels sales representative and they will provide this information for you. For wheels that meet the standard for a claim, either chrome bubbling or peeling, you can talk with a sales rep to get a Return Authorization.
Proper Care and Maintenance
All chrome plated wheels should be cleaned with mild soap and water frequently. Wheels must be cool before anything is put on the wheel.
We have put together the following images in order to help with all chrome plated warranty issues:
Below are images of wheels that are pitting due to neglect. These are not a warranty issue.
Pitting from backside of wheel.
Cause: Salt and chemicals causing corrosion caused pitting of chrome finish.
Prevention: Proper cleaning using mild soap and water.
Pitting due to harsh chemicals.
Cause: Brake fluid or other harsh chemicals caused pitting of chrome finish.
Prevention: Proper care and cleaning of wheel using mild soap and water.
Chrome separation, chrome peeling.
This is a warrantable condition as long as it is reported within the time established by the particular manufactures warranty (usually 1 or 2 years).
Above is an image of a wheel that has chrome separation or what is referred to as peeling. If wheels are in this condition, and are within the timeframe established by the manufacturer, then they are a warranty issue.
Exclusions from Warranty
Warranty does not apply to any item, which has been subject to misuse, neglect, accident or negligence.
The chrome may start peeling off the wheel in cases when the wheel suffers some kind of an impact like hitting the curb or potholes. No warranty applies in such cases.
Some minor pits, small chrome burns, chips, scratch marks underneath the chrome or polishing lines are likely to occur in some of the wheels and are not considered blemishes and therefore not entitled for return, exchange or refund.
The paint finish in most aftermarket wheels is of good commercial quality. While technically correct, some imperfections may show on the surface of the wheels and are not considered blemishes. A defective paint finish would be considered a part in which some face, spokes or lip areas are not covered by the paint. Uneven surfaces are not considered blemishes when they are protected / covered by the paint coating. KX Wheels will not be liable for any loss, damage, incidental or consequential damages of any kind, whether based upon warranty, contract or negligence and arising in connection with the sale, use or repair of the product. KX Wheels maximum liability shall not, in any case, exceed the contract sale price of the products being claimed to be defective or unsuitable.
